Michelin guide New York City 2012 - 2 new three-star restaurantsA day earlier than anticipated Michelin has released the New York City 2012 guide. The first edition of the New York City guide was published in 2005 (2006 guide) making the 2012 guide the 7th edition already. Two restaurants have been awarded three stars: Eleven Madison Park (one star in the 2011 guide!) and Chef's Table at Brooklyn Fare. The latter restaurant made its debut in the 2011 guide with two stars. With these two new additions there are now 7 restaurants at the top of the culinary pyramid in New York City and 98 three-star restaurants worldwide. The other 5 three-star restaurants in New York City are: Per Se (Thomas Keller), Daniel (Daniel Boulud), Le Bernardin (Eric Ripert), Jean Georges (Jean Georges Vongerichten) and Masa (Masa Takayama). SHO Shaun Hergatt in the Financial District and l'Atelier de Joel Robuchon have each been awarded a second star. Picholine lost its second Michelin star; accordingly the number of two-star restaurants in New York City now stands at nine. The 2012 guide will feature 46 one-star restaurants (41 in 2011), with nine new entrances this year. As announced last week the New York City 2012 guide will feature 114 restaurants (95 in 2011) in the Bib Gourmand category (2 courses and wine and dessert for $40). The New York City guide is the first guide to be published this Michelin season. The next guide to be released is the Great Britain & Ireland guide on Thursday.
