Early this morning Michelin announced the Michelin stars and Bib Gourmands of the Switzerland guide 2012. The Switzerland guide will hit the shelves on Thursday 17 November 2012.

Two restaurants in Switzerland have been awarded a second star, Le Floris in Anières (near Geneva) and Mesa in Zürich. With these two new additions Switzerland now has 18 two-star restaurants.
In the 2012 guide the number of three-star restaurants remains at two, Philippe Rochat in Crissier and Schloss Schauenstein in Fürstenau.


Michelin awarded eleven restaurants their first star, eight restaurants lost theirs. The 2012 guide will feature 76 one-star restaurants in total.

The Bib Gourmand category shows a healthy growth. Michelin has awarded 16 restaurants this accolade in the 2012 guide. The total number of Bib Gourmand restaurants in Switzerland now stands at 87.
