Today Michelin announced the Michelin stars and Bib Gourmands 2012 for Spain and Portugal.
Can Fabes in San Celoni has lost its third star, following the death of chef Santi Santamaria in February this year. As El Bulli closed in July this year, Ferran Adria's legendary Roses restaurant is no longer featured in the 2012 guide. Spain now has 5 three-star restaurants, Akelare, Arzak, Marin Berasategui, El Celler de Can Roca and Sant Pau.
Three restaurants in Spain have gained a second star in the 2012 guide, Àbac in Barcelona and El Club Allard and Diverxo in Madrid. In Portugal Ocean in Armação de Pêra was awarded with a second star. Spain now has 17 two-star restaurants, Portugal has 2.
Thirteen restaurants in Spain have been awarded a star, as were 2 restaurants in Portugal. Spain now has a total of 117 one-star restaurants and Portugal has 10.
