Two restaurants have been awarded a second star: Bon-Bon in Brussels and Bartholomeus in Knokke-Heist (West Flanders). Bon-Bon restaurant is run by Christophe Hardiquest (executive chef) and his wife Stéphanie (restaurant manager). Michelin praises chef Christophe Hardiquest's creativity, his technical skill and his use of top-quality ingredients.
Executive chef at Bartholomeus is Bart Desmit. Michelin is impressed by Desmit's refined dishes that showcase an outstanding balance of flavours.
Restaurant Danny Horseele in Bruges has lost its two stars. The two-star restaurant was declared bankrupt in July 2013. However, chef Danny Horseele gains back one star in the 2014 guide with his new restaurant in Ghent named 'Horseele'. The restaurant, that opened end of August 2013, is located at the Ghent football stadium Gelamco Arena. Italian restaurant Mosconi in Luxembourg has been demoted to one star. The 2014 guide will feature 17 two-star restaurants in total, all in Belgium.
No changes in Michelin's highest category. The number of three-star restaurants in Belgium still stands at 3: De Karmeliet in Bruges (chef: Geert Van Hecke), Hertog Jan in Bruges (chef: Gert De Mangeleer) and Hof van Cleve in Kruishoutem (chef: Peter Goossens).

Michelin has awarded 18 restaurants in Belgium one star, of which 12 are located in Flanders, 2 in Brussels and 4 in Wallonia. Among the winners are Villa Lorraine and Restaurant WY, both in Brussels; Restaurant Vrijmoed in Ghent; The Glorious Winebar & Bistro and l'Epicerie du Cirque, both in Antwerp. The number of one-star restaurants in Belgium now stands at 101.
