Today Michelin announced the Michelin stars and Bib Gourmands 2014 for Switzerland. The 2014 Switzerland guide will hit the shelves on 21 November 2013.
Focus restaurant in Vitznau debuts in the 2014 guide with 2 Michelin stars. The restaurant is housed in the Park Hotel Vitznau, located on the shores of Lake Lucerne. The hotel/restaurant reopened in March 2013 after an extensive and hugely expensive refurbishment. The restaurant boasts a 30,000 bottle wine collection valued at Sfr 25 million, divided over six state-of-the-art cellars. Executive chef at Focus is Nenad Mlinarevic, who trained at Andreas Caminada's Schloss Schauenstein. In 2010 (2011 guide) he was awarded his first Michelin star at restaurant Neue Blumenau in Lömmenschwil. With this new addition the number of two-star restaurants in Switzerland now stands at 19.

No changes in the three-star category, Restaurant de l'Hôtel de Ville in Crissier (chef: Benoît Violier) and Schloss Schauenstein in Fürstenau (chef: Andreas Caminada) remain Switzerland's two three-star restaurants.
Michelin awarded 15 restaurants their first star. Many of the new stars are located in grand hotels. Among the new entries are: Bayview at the Hôtel Président Wilson (chef: Michel Roth), Il Lago at the Four Seasons Hotel and Le Flacon (all three in Geneva), Restaurant Sommet at The Alpina Hotel in Gstaadt, Da Vittorio at the Carlton Hotel in St. Moritz and restaurants Mesa and Pavillon, both in Zürich. The 2014 guide will feature 89 one-star restaurants in total.
The 2014 guide features 94 restaurants (12 new entries) in the Bib Gourmand category (starter, main and dessert for €35 or less). Among the new entries are: L'Arabesque at the Hôtel Président Wilson and La Cantine des Commerçants, both in Geneva and Drei Stuben and Stapferstube da Rizzo, both in Zürich
