Scandinavian restaurant Aquavit, tasting menu-only restaurant Blanca and Japanese restaurant Ichimura (Japanese, sushi) have all been awarded a second star, taking the number of two-star restaurants in New York City up to 9. Aquavit Chef Emma Bengtsson is the second female chef in America to have been awarded two Michelin stars, the other one being Dominique Crenn of Atelier Crenn in San Francisco.
Daniel Boulud's eponymous restaurant Daniel has been demoted to two stars; the number of three-star restaurants in New York City therefore drops to 6. New York City's three-star restaurants are: Eleven Madison Park (Daniel Humm), Per Se (Thomas Keller), Chef's Table at Brooklyn Fare (César Ramirez), Le Bernardin (Eric Ripert), Jean Georges (Jean Georges Vongerichten) and Masa (Masa Takayama).
